I guess it’s finally time to make myself a legitimate artblog. My inspiration and general mutterings can be found at http://tooth-eater.tumblr.com/

But this is going to be all my art, all the time. I’ll be putting up WIP, finished paintings, and sketches and thumbnails. I’m set to graduate in a week, and I’m considering this as a personal journal of progress. I’ll be commenting frequently on what it is to be an illustrator fresh out of school, and hopefully my journey to making it lucrative.

Just picked up this game for my sister and myself and I highly recommend it. The game play is fairly simple but also challenging, with lots of possibilities in terms of what the player can learn and how they can go about surviving in this harsh terrain. It offers choices such as foraging for resources, befriending local animals, hunting and making clothes and tools to help along the way.

Currently on Steam there is a two for one bundle for you and your buddy. Definitely check it out! I’ll hopefully get less bad and be able to post a non embarrassing screenshot soon.

After six months of trying to organize this art therapy for sick kids in the metropolitan area, today was our first day finally being able to pull it all together! I made the costumes and organized the activities for the day. We made papercrafts of the two mice from Cinderella and learned “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” The turnout was amazing and the kids were so excited to be able to do this with us. They came wearing their princess tutus and tiaras and seemed very enthusiastic to participate in working with their hands and being able to learn singing and dance movements. I cannot wait to be able to do another session with the kids next month. Thank you to all my amazing volunteers, the parents and to CoachArt for making this all happen!

I’m still working on my comic, which is why I haven’t been posting much, and my volunteer group is about to start this Saturday with the Disney Princess thing, so excitement all around and busy all around. One of my kids is dying and the funniest thing, is that what hit me the hardest is that I know her favorite drink. She loves pomegranate crystal lite. It’s so shocking to me that I know her well enough to know her favorite drink, I know her favorite Vocaloid and anime and she is going to die and just like that, her favorite things are not going to matter anymore.

I had bought her nail polish at the store, since I promised I would, only to find out she cannot even get her nails painted because she is currently on oxygen. Her mom turned to me and said, “I can tell, by how you are, that you were meant to be a nurse. You are such a good nurse.”

And the funny thing is, I never meant to be a nurse. It was never in my life goal or my life plans, but that’s just how things turn out sometimes and I am glad that it has because I have the best of both worlds, to be able to draw to the point of exhaustion, then wake up and make a difference to the lives of these kids. The fact I have so limited time has made me prioritize my time, to draw with purpose. I think a part of me will always wish I went to art school, but every day I remind myself that there is a reason why I am there, and why I am an atypical nurse.

Nobody else in the nursing staff is a hardcore gamer or watches cartoons or even has really seen Tangled all the way through, but I had. And if I can continue to sing and play with these kids, and put their wiis together because nobody else can, then that’s fine by me.

I held her hand and she looked me in the eye when she said, “You are so lucky.”

I am. I am so lucky. And the trivial things I used to complain about are so senseless now because a seventeen year old is dying in a hospital room who just wants to go home and go to her first anime convention. Life is crazy once you get it into perspective.

Babe, thank you for everything you have taught me and continue to teach me.
